The Mentors Radio, Interview

Performing at our Best Under Pressure with Guest Joe Montana

In this episode of The Mentors Radio, host Dan Hesse talks with Joe Montana, one of the greatest football players in history, a four-time Super Bowl champion. During the conversation, Montana teaches us how to get the most out of those around us and how to perform under pressure. We also learned how he has parlayed his team leadership skills into a very successful career as an angel investor and “Unicorn” picker.

Without a doubt, Joe Montana personifies excellence and personal integrity, both on and off the field. He is one of the toughest quarterbacks ever to play the game and his trademark was unflappable poise in the clutch, earning the nickname “Joe Cool.”

Yet the word most closely associated with Joe is not winner — it’s leader.  After leading Notre Dame to the college football national championship, Joe led the San Francisco 49ers to four Super Bowls titles with Joe earning MVP honors three times. He finished his legendary NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs and he’s a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His post-football life has been just as successful, as a public speaker, advertising pitchman, husband, father, grandfather, and “angel” investor.

Values, Priorities and the Impact of a Good Mentor, a conversation with Tim Brown

In this episode of The Mentors Radio, Host Dan Hesse talks with Tim Brown, one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history. He is the only receiver in history to win the Heisman Trophy AND be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Tim grew up in Dallas and received a scholarship to play football at Notre Dame.  After winning the Heisman, he was the sixth overall pick in the NFL draft, taken by the LA Raiders, where “Mr Raider” as he was called, played almost his entire 17-year NFL career. He made the Pro Bowl nine times. When he retired Tim trailed only Jerry Rice in career receiving yards. In the long history of America’s most popular sport, only 10 players have won the Heisman and later been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Eight are still living. He is the author of The Making of a Man. Off the field, Tim has been involved in various charities, including his work with the Tim Brown Foundation.

Success in Life Comes from Teaching Others: Interview with Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid

In this episode The Mentors Radio Host Dan Hesse talks with Andy Reid, Head Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, about Andy’s philosophy that success in life comes from teaching others. Winning two Super Bowls as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Andy Reid trails only Bill Belichick in career victories among active NFL coaches. His Chiefs have won seven consecutive AFC West titles and hosted five consecutive AFC championship games. He’s considered an offensive mastermind, seems to be well-liked by everyone, and 11 NFL head coaches were mentored by Andy as branches on his famous “coaching tree.”
